Spacious upgraded room with a standout sea view, no unpleasant odors, and a well-maintained bathroom. Breakfast offered a solid variety of both hot and cold options, with the full English being particularly piping hot.

Parking resembles a game of musical chairs, especially with limited spots available on a first-come basis, which could be frustrating after a long journey. Some areas of the room showed signs of wear and could benefit from a refreshing touch-up, like the slight scuffs on the walls. The hotel can get quite busy, creating a crowded atmosphere during peak times that might not sit well with those seeking tranquility.

Can't recommend highly enough for a hurried visit

Comfortable room, excellent breakfast, the fresh grapefruit segments were a delightful surprise that made the meal stand out and the secure parking, although tricky to navigate, was a great convenience for our stay.

Staying here with my family and grandchild was fantastic! The hotel has a lovely beachfront view, and we enjoyed easy access to the pier. Our room was spacious and comfortable, making it perfect for relaxing after a fun day exploring Southsea.

In my wife’s opinion, more kid-friendly options in the dining area would be great.

Clean, friendly, great restaurant.

The stay was delightful, especially with the lovely setting close to the beach. The enormous room was spotlessly clean, featuring a comfortable bed that made for a restful night. Dinner in the spacious dining room overlooking the sea was a highlight, and the wait staff were accommodating during peak meal times.

The food was fantastic and we loved the cozy feel of our room during our anniversary stay. We enjoyed the spa treatments and took advantage of the lovely barbeque area too. The only downside was the dated decor, but it added a bit of charm, so I recommend giving it a try! 😊

Charming Victorian vibes with sea views

Loved the old-school charm of this place! My room had a fab sea view, and the decor was so classy. The staff were super helpful, but the bar dude had no clue what lemon lime bitters was, haha! getting to the room safe was a bit tricky if you weren’t mobile. a lovely stay!

The Victorian decor throughout the hotel was charming, with elegant vintage chandeliers that made me feel like royalty. The lobby and lounge were easily accessible, making it comfortable for seniors to relax and enjoy the beautiful seafront views.

the royal is a fabulous old hotel with stunning views over the solent. our room was enormous, spotlessly clean, and had a comfortable bed! having dinner in the enormous dining room by the sea was delightful. the staff were friendly and helpful, making the stay even more enjoyable. plus, the location is simply lovely with its view overlooking the promenade and sea.

I stayed in one of the sea view rooms, and the breathtaking views made my stay truly memorable. The Victorian decor added an elegant touch, making the atmosphere feel luxurious while still being comfortable. Unfortunately, the hotel’s furnishings felt dated, with many areas calling for refurbishment to enhance comfort. Room 305 had windows that were in poor condition and covered with cobwebs, detracting from the overall experience. the absence of fridges and air conditioning made it more challenging to manage comfort levels, especially on warmer days. Parking options were limited, creating potential hassle during busy times, while the cleanliness in certain areas could use improvement, as dusty corners were noted in the lobby. As for dining, while there were meal options available, some dishes lacked the variety and flavor expected from a place of this stature.

The location is fab, right by the beach with stunning views! We got an upgrade to a sea view room, which was epic.
